Empty nest syndrome is a feeling of loneliness or sadness that occurs among parents after children grow up and leave home for better prospects. Empty nest syndrome is not a clinical diagnosis, but rather describes a transition period in which many people experience feelings of loneliness or loss.\u00a0When the time comes for your children to leave home, there is a sense of helplessness and this is the most challenging period. Whatever the child’s flight path, parents are left with an empty place in the home, or as it have been dubbed in the vernacular, \u2018the empty nest\u2019. How you choose to cope with this new reality as parents of a now independent adult will determine the speed and comfort level of adjustment.<\/p>\n

However some parents are more susceptible than others and there are various reasons for it. Some of the reasons are as follows:<\/p>\n
